This COMSOL model is developed by a student in the last course.

 

Aneurysms are blood filled balloons in the walls of a blood vessel, commonly caused by conditions like high cholesterol, high blood pressure or simply a congenital formation.

 

 

In the majority of the cases, aneurysms that develop deep inside the body grow without presenting any symptoms; however, blood filtration through the arterial wall, rapid expansion of the aneurysm or rupture of the aneurysm can cause excessive pain, accelerated heart rate, shock and death within minutes.

 

The purpose of this assignment was to simulate blood flow through a aorta aneurysm located below the renal arteries before the ileac bifurcation as presented in the figures below.
