Finite Element Method (FEM) simulation is a very powerful tool in the modern design process. It is an excellent method to simulate the behavior of complex models.
The main goal is to give a decent hands-on introduction to the use of FEM in product design. In this course FEM package COMSOL will be used.
After the course, you will have the skills to use FEM. The content of the course is a mix of becoming familiar with COMSOL and learning how to model different physical phenomena.
PD by FEM is a master course for students of several study programmes. The timetables including rooms for PD by FEM can be found in the following schedule. The maximum number of participants is 32.
Typical examples:
Biomedical stent Hyperelastic seal Crank shaft
Examples realized by students during the last courses:
Snap-fit design Contact lens design
Bicycle wheel Intervertebral disc
