In the development of an artificial intervertebral disc, the mechanical demands are very important.

The stiffnesses in different directions should have values comparable to a real intervertebral disc and

the artificial intervertebral disc should be able to withstand certain forces and moments.

The stiffnesses, maximum moments and forces are calculated. As a result of the found values, the artificial disc is redesigned.
